After not one but two faulty starts, neither snow nor broken shutters could keep me away from Superette! Despite having lost my voice for the first few days, and the feeling that my internship may be cursed, I am pleased to announce its been full steam ahead since!
I study Retail at LCC, so seeing how a business is run has been great. One more year of my degree to go… My time here has been a non-stop whirlwind and I have loved every minute! Never could I have imagined I would be creating 50 plus felt Rocket Lollies… whenever I see a real one I shall see a smiling face! I was so pleased with the way they turned out.
When Leona asked me to help with creating the She’s a Rainbow necklace I enthusiastically set about playing with streams of ribbon… “How about we use all the colours?!”. Big mistake. It looks fabulous ladies, but let me tell you; that rainbow is a labour of love!
Two weeks in and the curse was still lurking with the delay of the Playmates photo shoot (NOT the Playboy kind)… but I did get to do some location scouting and go and meet Bayleaf the Donkey (who completely ignored me, despite my affectionate calls and over excited waving).
I have however developed a very serious jam doughnut addiction. Score.
The final day is here… and both Leona and I arrived armed to the teeth with baked goods for a leaving feast. After comparing notes about the night before baking dramas, we both decided the kitchen gods had been against us… with Leona’s tale of deflating cupcakes and my futile attempt to make fudge (long story involving inadequate marshmallows), however the curse has finally been lifted as my Devil’s Food cake and Leona’s Black Bottom cupcakes made it safely to the studio! Thank you to Sam and Leona, and everyone at Superette for being so wonderful. If you ever need me I shall fly down with my umbrella Mary Poppins- style and clean your tea mugs!
