Hey there lovely peoples! 2005 has been a blast for all of us here at LLROK and it wouldn't have been half as much fun without YOU. We're all feelin' a little weary though so when we pop the closed sign up at 7pm at Superette tomorrow we'll be taking a well earned break. The website will remain open and you can place as many orders as your heart desires - however no orders will be processed until we return on Tuesday January 3rd 2006. The same goes for any e-mails received after tomorrow afternoon, my computer is staying OFF for 8 whole days. Instead I'll be eating, drinking, watching TV top 100s and staying in my PJs for as long as possible. I'll probably still be thinking about Lady Luck the whole time and I'm already excited about all the stuff coming up in 2006. In the mean time prepare yourself for the sale o' the century which begins Thursday January 5th 2006, oh and take a peek at Lola's blog to find out what the super lass from Pink World thought about Superette when she dropped by the other day. Happy christmas everyone and have an ace new year!
WOW! What a night, I hardly know where to start. On the Friday morning there was still so much stuff to do it was scary. In fact Gemma had just finished her amazing hand painted mural at 6.30pm and Sam just finished hanging the shop sign at 6.55pm. Phew.
I had received 105 RSVPs so we made up 105 goodie bags which included Lazy Oaf pins, postcards, bambi and owl hanging decorations, heart hair bobbles and LLROK unicorn pins and huge disc necklaces all wrapped up in heart printed bags. Unfortunately I had run out of time to add the Superette pin badges but I will be popping one in every website order from today onwards.
The first guests arrived bang on 7pm and by 7.30 our little shop was full to the brim. We served beer, wine and pop in the basement downstairs (see photo below) and Mette handed out the goodie bags at my ship-shaped bar. It was so lovely to meet lots of website customers and see familiar faces from the pictures on my blog.
As promised I previewed my new collection "Go Go Girls from Outerspace" and it was great to hear people's comments and reactions - the favourite pieces seem to be the robots with googly eyes, rockets with star danglers and the rayguns. I'll be launching the collection on the website at the beginning of February after the mammouth LLROK January sale.
Sam took lots of photos on the night and Sam's Dad filmed the evening - I can't wait to see that. Below (from left to right) are the chic sisters Laura and Charley who brought their christmas pressies for eachother; my designer/maker pals Kazuko and Emma; and my lovely website customer Sapphire with her cute boyf. who wanted to know when I'm gonna start making jewellery for boys. We then decided I was just way too girly for that.
As people drank, shopped and squealed their way through their goodie bags we continued snapping them. Below are 2 kooky chicks who's names I didn't catch - if you read this leave a comment and let us know who you are! In the middle is Steven from Our Shop who loves posing for piccies!
One of my favourite parts of Superette are the jumbo red lips shelves. Sam handcrafted them from scratch! They have a little light inside and 3 mirrored turntables that house a charm ring, charm bracelet and charm brooch.
We closed the shop at 11pm and continued partying in the Big Chill Bar. I woke up the next day with a very sore head. Thanks so much to everyone who came and made the night such fun! I know many of you came from far and wide - especially Jil and Holly from Newcastle and Imogen and Nicola from Tunbridge Wells. You gals rock! While I'm thanking people I also have to name check Sam's Mum Mary who cleaned like a trouper all day Friday; our work experience dude Paulo who was a star and my friend Mette who made lots of stock for the party. Last but not least my super boyfriend Sam (who I love to pieces) he works tirelessly behind the scenes at LLROK and without him Superette wouldn't be so super.
We will now be open everyday until and including Christmas Eve - Monday to Saturday from 12pm til 7pm and Sunday from 12pm til 5pm. I will be working away in my new studio at the back of Superette so come and say Hi! if you couldn't make the party! I posted 85 website orders today and now I have 3 wholesale orders to make for Bow Wow Wow in Leeds, Sista in Kingston and a new shop in Spain. I know the website is very low on stock as I have been overwhelmed by christmas orders so if the item you were after has sold out have a look at my stockist list to see if I sell in a shop near you! Give them a call and they may have the piece you're after. If you would like something completely different then come to Superette - I have a whole host of new goodies, one-offs made for press, vintage pieces and more! Yippee!
Superette is the name of our sparkling new studio and shop - it's French for mini market! Click the logo above to view your opening party invite! Sorry to be short and sweet but I'm moving in today!
Last Posting Dates for guaranteed christmas delivery are:
